Career Services

Our goal is to provide you with the experience and education you need to start your career. WATC provides you with career-specific training, and we work with you to reach your career goals.

WATC’s Student Success Services provides presentations and works with you one-on-one to assist you in gaining relevant employment. We help students with:

  •  Résumé development.
  •  Writing cover letters.
  •  Interviewing techniques.
  •  Job-search strategies

In addition to career assistance during your training, we provide lifelong career assistance to our graduates. Down the line, when you are looking for your next job or planning to relocate, give us a call. We’ll help update your résumé and provide you with appropriate job listings in your area.

We’ve maintained high job placement rates for years by providing students who are trained for employment. Employers contact us to hire our well-trained graduates. Placement success ultimately depends upon each student’s academic performance and self-motivation.

Contact Student Success, 316.677.9400, to schedule an appointment, or visit the Career Corner in the library on Thursdays from 3–4 p.m.

College Central Network

Wichita Area Technical College (WATC) partners with College Central Network, Inc. (CCN), an online job and résumé board. This service is available to current students, alumni and employers. To use the system, students, alumni and employers must register online at www.collegecentral.com/watc.

  • Students and alumni can post résumés and search jobs online.
  • Employers can post jobs for free and search for qualified WATC graduates for potential employment.

Online Learning Partners with MEDS Publishing
Evening Practical Nurse students are now taking part in a great homework assistance software trial. WATC Online Learning has partnered with MEDS Publishing to provide its Total Nursing Curriculum Support software to these students the first week of February. The modules, which are provided with the software, give a variety of assistance to learners and are designed to follow students from their first course in a nursing program until they pass their Kansas State Board of Nursing exams.
Online Learning is able to pilot this software package with the evening Practical Nurse students through grant money. If the pilot proves successful, the program will be expanded to include all Practical Nurse students. We hope this software will help students achieve their educational goals and open the doors to success.

Questions concerning this partnership should be directed to Paul Jackson, director, Online Learning.
