Overview

Just as companies must stay competitive, WATC employees are continually changing to meet customers' needs. WATC is adding new programs and online courses to meet ever-changing student and employer needs.

WATC is working toward accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association (NCA) in addition to the Council on Occupational Education accreditation. The accreditation from HLC-NCA will benefit the students who choose to move into bachelor programs.

In 2007, Sedgwick County named WATC the managing partner of the new campus at Jabara Airport. The goal is simple — train students to work in high-paying aviation and manufacturing jobs. Local aviation and manufacturing employers need workers, especially as product backlogs grow and employee retirements increase. New business, Health Sciences and information technology programs are also planned. WATC is working closely with business and industry, as well as Sedgwick County, to develop training programs, facilities and students to meet the needs of the community.

Online Learning Partners with MEDS Publishing
Evening Practical Nurse students are now taking part in a great homework assistance software trial. WATC Online Learning has partnered with MEDS Publishing to provide its Total Nursing Curriculum Support software to these students the first week of February. The modules, which are provided with the software, give a variety of assistance to learners and are designed to follow students from their first course in a nursing program until they pass their Kansas State Board of Nursing exams.
Online Learning is able to pilot this software package with the evening Practical Nurse students through grant money. If the pilot proves successful, the program will be expanded to include all Practical Nurse students. We hope this software will help students achieve their educational goals and open the doors to success.

Questions concerning this partnership should be directed to Paul Jackson, director, Online Learning.
